Electricity by the Gallon

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

The vote is in and the Electric Car has won the primary election. They took the vote in both houses and the big house. Now that we know for sure that enough money has been put into play to make the Electric car a real car ( not just on paper ), we need to find a filling station for this new car.
Have any of my readers seen a roadside sign for electricity by the gallon?

Surely you jest! says my reader. Oh no. I jest not. Where are you going to go to get fuel for this car.

Car chargers will be next

Are you going to buy fuel at the gas station?  Do you by from the electric company?  Maybe you can get it at the grocery super store.

Not to fear, because many people smarter than I have cussed and discussed this problem. 87% of the people polled that will buy a hybrid/electric or pure electric car will charge the battery at home.

The SAE (society of automotive engineers) and NEMA (nat electrical manufactures association) have been working on this issue for years. They want you to be able to pull up to any electric station and fill up your EV without having to use adapters or worry about electricity spilling out on the ground if the pump handle is loose.

Also, you need to be careful not to top off the tank like some people do. This could get nasty.  But really, do you want an EV and if you buy one , where will you fuel it up.

At Jeffries Electric, we have a solution for this and can help you get your home ready for that new electric filling station. Charge your car at off peak hours for great prices and do it safely. No joke.

Far less emissions from the electric grid and no emissions at the tail pipe.  I know in the past I have been sceptical on the emissions aspect of electric cars, but new data has shown that we can generate energy at the generating station and do it cleaner than the energy you burn in your car from the pump.

So, Call us. We will get your home ready for that new car.

 Fill’er up with ethyl.
