Friends

Thanks to our Friends

As the song goes, Friends are friends forever. If only that were true. We have seen friends come and then move on. We are still friends, but we don’t seem to have time to see or talk to each other.

It’s not like we don’t care for each other anymore. It just seems that life has taken a turn and somehow I missed the turn and got side tracked.  Well, before some of our friends move on to a new city or  a new life, I want to say thanks and I do really care.

Thanks to our friends for this great honor
This award means a lot to us. My employees are the reason we received this.

Did you get your Christmas Present?

We wish you a Merry Christmas
Been Nice ?

I was making a list and checking it twice and guess who’s been naughty , not nice?

Well, if you can answer this question, I would really like to talk with you.

Seems we have lots of opinions this year about naughty and nice and good and bad. ( No Virginia, I will not tell.    Yet.) We all have our good points and we all have our day to day challenges. Did you keep track of all of them?

I dare say that I probably would come up in the red if I really kept track of everything I did. Does it seem odd that we are having a harder time deciding what is good and what is bad?  Well for what it’s worth, I will give you my official list that I believe is good for many years to come and has served many in the past. I would hope you agree.

  1. Snow on Christmas Day
  2. Presents under the tree.
  3. Peace in your home and your country.
  4. Family in good health.
  5. Children
  6. A good nights sleep.
  7. A clean conscience.
  8. Enough to eat and to share.
  9. Having a good job and working.
  10. Understanding good from bad.

I know this is a short list. There is so much more , but it’s Christmas. Enjoy the small things and don’t fret. Take the day off from worry and fret. Try to understand whats really important to you and your family.

I did not forget  you this year.  I just now gave you a present that will last much longer than this holiday season. Enjoy the day.   Merry Christmas!

Thanksgiving from the Turkey’s View

Friday, November 26th, 2010

Want to know whats so great about Turkey?         Ask a turkey.

So many ads and emails  about thanksgiving sales and charity needs and recipes. So many, that I hated to add to the clutter and the rush of the holidays.  This blog  title was just a ploy to get your attention. I really wanted to tell all of my readers ” Thank you”

I wanted to write a small post to let everyone know I wished them a Happy Thanksgiving.

When I started to think about all the aspects of Thanksgiving and the history of this holiday , I kept getting stuck on the perspective of the true meaning of giving thanks.  As I write, there are men in combat and men on the street without a home or food.  There are servants of our community and nation working 24/7.

I joined  the Army after High School. Most of my friends were stationed in Viet Nam.  I was posted to a lonely electronic listening outpost in a foreign land. I spent those holidays fighting a blizzard and the Cold War.  Wondering how the family was in Texas. Over the years I have never wandered far from the service industry. Fixing broken equipment seems like the right thing to do.

As a service provider, I am grateful for the work and opportunity to help you at your home or business., I know many people have emergencies during the holidays. I am thankful we can help.

As a consumer, I depend on electricity and water and heat every hour of everyday at my home and business.

Many is the day I have missed a Thanksgiving dinner or opening Christmas presents because a circuit breaker failed and a family was cold or dark. I remember these days and look back at the homes we were able to help or the business that needed lights and heat.

We all sacrifice for the good of our family and friends, and many sacrifice for the good of the country. I have many friends in foreign mission fields and they will not be home for the holidays.

So, If I may, I am so glad I have been able to help. I am really glad of the men and women taking my place today. They answer the phone with a smile and they leave their warm homes to come to your aid in cold and dark buildings. Rain and shine. Sleet and snow.

We give thanks that we are able to help you in times of need. My hope for the holidays and every late night call we take, is REMEMBER. And say ” Thanks” to the Men and Women that are willing to help you or others when  times of need arise,  when our country calls,  when a need is so evident and a person is cold and hungry.  Remember to share. It makes our country such a great place.

Oh, I think turkey is great.      As long as I’m not the turkey!

How much $ for a good nights sleep ?

Friday, October 22nd, 2010

Below is a page from our play book. We want you to enjoy your biggest investment (your home) for years and years. Upgrading the breakers to a computer assisted breaker is the best way to increase the safety for your home.

Arc Fault Breakers installed in existing homes.

This new type of breaker is required for new homes and many towns require this AFCI breaker for circuit extensions and panel change outs. This is a quantum advance in home safety, but not without some draw backs. As we are required by state and local laws to install this device in your home breaker panel, we must comply and we want you to be as safe as possible. Below are some of the existing problems that surface when the new breaker is installed.

• An appliance plug damaged by impact repeatedly caused tripping of the AFCI until the problem was discovered. When the appliance cord was replaced, no further tripping of the AFCI occurred.

• A room air conditioner that had a short in the motor windings  tripped the AFCI breaker.
The  AFCI breaker was questioned until the offending appliance was discovered and disconnected.

• An AFCI installed in a new building tripped repeatedly until damage caused by a nail through insulation was discovered and corrected.

• An AFCI breaker replacing an older breaker in a building tripped as soon as it was turned on. The installing electrician found the problem with extensive evidence of arcing in an old lighting fixture.

• A breaker panel change out included AFCI breakers for all living areas. The  AFCI was installed in an existing circuit. The AFCI tripped when the circuit was first energized after the installation. Wire nuts on the fan motor were replaced and the problem was corrected.

• An AFCI tripped when retrofitted into an existing circuit. Examination of the circuit disclosed that wire insulation had burnt back exposing bare conductors near their connection to a receptacle. The exposed wires had been arcing through the charred insulation. It appeared that heat from a loose connection at the receptacle had caused
the wires to burn back.

As you might guess from this list, the greatest number of fires caused by electrical problems are in homes ten years old and older. Changes to the electrical system over the years and misuse or attic traffic and cause the wiring to deteriorate. However; fires from electrical arcs are recorded for homes of all ages. These new breakers are the best way to prevent this type of fire in your home.Safety is no accident. How much is a good night’s sleep worth?
