High-tech Trouble shooting with Thermal/Infrared Camera
Non-destructive thermal imaging and digital sampling can spot trouble before it causes major problems. Non-destructive testing will not harm your circuits nor interfere with your equipment while it is running. This is the best and most cost effective way to prevent emergency shutdowns. This along with a visual inspection of your breaker panel can alleviate many common problems and failures.
Code Corrections
Code Corrections If you are selling your house and have been told by an inspector that it needs certain repairs made to bring it up to code we can help with that. Most older homes do not have a ground fault circuit interrupter outlet (GFCI). Some do not have grounded outlets. In some cases certain repairs are not required because the Texas and National Electric Code will allow an item to be "grandfathered". This determines a device or installation was installed according to the code in effect at the time of installation. Once you have a licensed electrician inspect these items we can help you make a better determination on the repairs necessary.
Whole House Lighting and Surge Protection
Your Home is your most costly asset. Does your home owner's policy protect you from electrical surges or just lightning?
Cutler Hammer products manufactured by Eaton Corp are the 1st name that comes to mind for professional electricians when you say Quality. Cutler Hammer surge protective devices are top of the line. They have a lifetime warranty and when installed by a qualified technician in your home's breaker panel, will protect your home's electrical devices from spikes and surges that come into your home from the power lines and close by lightning strikes.
Basic Protection for all AC power loads in the home
Includes up to $75,000 warranty protection
UL certified devices with a Lifetime Warranty that protects:
- Major Appliances
- Home Electronics
- Computers
- Home Offices
- Entertainment Centers
- All connected electrical equipment
As part of the overall installation, we will inspect your breaker panel for defects and signs of deterioration or overheating, and tighten connections as needed. We also inspect the ground wire and ground rod for proper sizing and installation. Wall outlet surge protectors need to be UL listed also. These devices are an added level of protection and should not be removed if you have them in service.
On any surge protective device, look for the UL 1449 designation. This will let you know you're getting the most up-to-date equipment that has been thoroughly tested to protect your home. There are many counterfeits on the market today that are made to look exactly like the real thing. Only buy your surge protective devices from a reputable dealer that will guarantee the real thing.
Federal Pacific Breakers and Panel
This type of panel was popular in the 50's and 60's. I personally knew some electricians that installed these until they ran out and could not buy more of them. This panel and the breakers for them are not to be trusted. I have seen the burned wires and fire damage from a Federal Pacific Breaker that would not trip. Follow the link below to learn quite a bit about this panel. I think you will agree, you need a new panel.
InspectAPedia.com ® - Building & Environmental Inspection, Testing, Diagnosis, Repair, & Problem Prevention Advice: In-depth research & advice on diagnosing, testing, correcting, & preventing building defects & indoor environmental hazards.
When we find a Federal Pacific breaker panel, our advise to you is to replace it. We will replace this panel and give you a lifetime warranty on a new panel and the breakers and the labor should you ever need a new breaker.
